Established in 1985, the Hwa Chong Institution Chinese Orchestra is an esteemed Chinese orchestra in Singapore, rich in history and culture. The orchestra has been unwavering in its aim of spreading the passion for Chinese music and culture, as evident from its various splendid achievements it has gathered over the years. In addition, HCICO has constantly performed in numerous events, most recently at the recent HC100 Gala Dinner.
The orchestra has been obtaining the highest award of Distinction in the Singapore Youth Festival for many years and also received the best CCA award for aesthetic groups in 2016. Furthermore, the orchestra has been honoured with the opportunity to perform in other countries such as China, Australia and Malaysia. Such honours were made possible only because the orchestra engages renowned and proficient musicians to tutor the students in their respective instruments.
The orchestra is always aspiring to reach greater heights by exploring different types of music. As such, the orchestra plays a plethora of music genres, ranging from modern songs to Japanese music.

Chinese Society
The Hwa Chong Chinese Society is a dynamic and close-knit family staging a wide range of interesting activities, which allow students to discover and hone their skills and talents to their fullest potential. The Chinese Society consists of three clubs in which students can major: drama, calligraphy and debate. Although the three clubs function fairly independently, there are many opportunities for students to be exposed to the activities of the other two clubs, very much enriching their learning experiences. For example, Chinese Drama is one of Hwa Chong's flagship programmes. Whenever performances are staged, all students of the Chinese Society will have the opportunity to participate, improving their language skills, developing their self-confidence, and cultivating their aesthetic appreciation. In addition, the students can watch debates and pick up the ability to respond quickly to different situations, training their logical thinking and developing their eloquence. Other than that, the students can immerse themselves in the beauty of traditional Chinese calligraphy, which cultivates their love for the Chinese culture. The Chinese Society provides plenty of opportunities for its members to improve their knowledge of art, enhance their art appreciation, hone their thinking skills and build up their self-confidence.

Throughout the years we have attended the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) and have our own annual production, where we allow all our club members to let their talents shine on stage.
